PETER MCNAMARA, General Manager, Procurement and Supply Chain Excellence, Rio Tinto, Australia

Peter McNamara has 28 years experience in the resources sector and has held a variety of roles covering technical, product support, marketing and project evaluation functions. For the past 12 years he has been deeply involved in procurement and supply chain management. Peter has been a key architect in the strategic, operational and customer facing aspects of the transformation of procurement for Rio Tinto. In 2000, Peter spent two years in the United States establishing the strategic sourcing initiative. He currently leads improvement initiatives and strategic development work globally as General Manager Supply Chain Excellence and recently led the procurement integration work arising from Rio Tinto’s $38 billion acquisition of Alcan.
