Smart 2009 organising committee member Mal Walker, is heading up the Smart 2009 Research Forum

Invitation to speakers

The Smart 2009 Research Forum will be held on Tuesday June 9 immediately prior to Smart 2009 Conference. Interested students, academics and other parties are invited to submit papers

Objectives

  • To bring together academics, students, representatives from private and public research organisations, enterprises, sponsors and associations to hear the latest supply chain research.
  • To increase the awareness, usefulness, quality and distribution of research to areas where it is needed for the purposes of effective supply chain management in Australia and Asia-Pacific region.

OUTCOMES

  • To showcase the latest in supply chain related research from industrial and academic sources
  • Identify future areas of interest for research candidates
  • Distribute research executive summaries to interested parties including Smart conference delegates, associations and institutions
  • Facilitate access by delegates and interested parties to full research papers
  • Ensure attendees understand the scope and content of the latest supply chain research studies, what is of interest and requirements for future studies
  • Direct research to where it will be useful
  • Raise the image and profile and plan for effective ongoing coordination of supply chain research in Australia

    • Presentations by associations and public and private organisations
  • Group Panel Discussion
    • Establish a priority list of research topics to be disseminated to research candidates, associations, private organisation and other interested parties
  • Consultation Session
    • Interested students to discuss proposed research topics and approaches with leading academics and industry representatives

CALL FOR PAPERS

Interested students, academics and all other parites are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 500 words detailing:

  • Research subject eg supply chain, manufacturing, infrastructure, industry, energy, warehousing, transport, IT, benchmarking, procurement, planning, event manaement etc
  • Research objective
  • Anticipated research outcomes
  • Research beneficiaries
  • Current status ie proposed, beginning, mid course, near completion, completion
  • Hypothesis, outcomes to date, conclusions
  • Desired outcome from presenting an executive summary at the Forum
  • Agreement from supervisor/institution to participate in the Forum
